The Story of Joy’s Folly

Originally established in the 1950s as Elandra Holiday Flats, our family property was run by Joy and David Stanton from 1975 to 2021. Together, they welcomed guests from around Australia many returning year after year to enjoy the beachside location, warm hospitality and relaxed holiday traditions.

Passed down to the next generation in 2022, the property has been thoughtfully renovated and reimagined blending retro charm with modern comfort for today’s Mornington Peninsula visitors. It’s inspired by the spirit of 1950s-70s Australiana, when guests became friends over a BBQ and beer, the kids entertained themselves at the beach from dawn to dusk, and twilight cricket on the backstreets marked the end of each summer day.

We chose the name Joy’s Folly in honour of our mother who ran Elandra Holiday Flats for over 40 years.

We hope you’ll feel right at home and enjoy everything the property and the Mornington Peninsula have to offer from spectacular beaches and coastal walks to rich food, wine and history.
